Una’s Chat

Dear Families,

Thank you for joining us for a fantastic Sing-Along.  So many people help put our annual program together, but I want to thank two in particular: Jonathan Reuning-Scherer and Yummie Oberstein.  By day, they have been teaching the children the wide range of music you heard today, while also recording raw cuts for the Voices of MSGH cd you brought home.  However, by night they have spent many, many hours editing, dubbing and burning the cds. Yummie and Jonathan, thank you for all that you have given to bring such joy to our community. We also thank your families for generously sharing you with us!

Thanks also to FA Co-Chair, Rebecca London, for organizing the MSGH Food Drive; that was an important support for many families in need.

On behalf of all of the MSGH staff, we hope you enjoy your holiday festivities, but as you near the start of the New Year, please consider this thought. When you evaluate what you will leave in 2011, and what you will bring with you into 2012, think about why you do what you do. If there is something in your life that you resent or feel is a burden (be it a job, some maintenance you regularly have to do at home, or an aspect of your child’s behavior you must consistently manage that you find difficult, etc.), stop and think about why you continue to do it.  Is it serving some particular purpose and helping you move toward a goal, or are you doing it just because it’s what you’ve always done?  If this activity does not serve a clear function or purpose, whether short or long term, then consider if it’s worth continuing. If it does have a clear purpose, then continue with the reassurance that you are choosing to do it, not forced to, and you are moving toward something important that will either support or enrich your or someone else’s life.

Enjoy a peaceful, relaxing and joyful holiday season with your family and friends.

See you in 2012!

Una

Annual Fund 2011-2012

Now is a good time to take stock of all that we have to be thankful for, and the people and places that enrich our lives.  Giving to the MSGH Annual Fund is a great way to show that you are thankful for this cherished institution and home of learning and discovery.

Please make a generous gift to this year’s Annual Fund and show your appreciation for this special place.  There are many options available for contributing: you may make one payment, a series of installments by check or credit card or pay online at msgh.org. Choose the option that best suits your family’s needs.  Thank you for your support!

Baby Photos!

For those of you who enjoyed the "first run" of Follow the Child and thought how remarkable it was that Ms. Christy's baby looked so much like Ms. Randalot's baby, that's because we mixed up the photos!  Enjoy these two smiling (and now correctly labeled) faces: Lucy on the left and Molly on the right.

Thanks...Again

Thanks to Rebecca London, who generously said YES to requests to cook up more latkes and visit P2 and Lower El to talk about the meaning of Hanukkah, as well as why menorahs and dreidels are part of this 8-Day Festival of Lights.  Thanks, Rebecca!
