Melinda Smith
Administrative Coordinator
"I have very distinct, positive memories of attending a Montessori school when I was little and therefore wanted the same for my daughter. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Maria Montessori and her ability and determination to learn through observation to formulate a philosophy. I also have a tremendous respect for MSGH; they truly value Maria Montessori’s observations and stay true to her original philosophy."

Melinda came looking for MSGH in early 2001 when her daughter began her first of nine years here, and she became very involved very quickly. She was the Parent Association Secretary and a volunteer at the MSGH auction from 2002-2003, and was the Parent Association President from 2003-2006. In 2004 she became a part-time MSGH employee and her position has grown over the years.

Prior to joining the MSGH team, Melinda was a teacher of English at the Torrington Christian Academy, which augmented a successful career in the field of organizational business development, management and finance.

Melinda holds a BA in English Literature from The King’s College in NY and was a contributing writer to the newspaper and literary magazines during her time there. She is a Trustee and Secretary for the Friends of the Welles-Turner Memorial Library and has served as a volunteer for many local organizations including the Connecticut Audubon Center.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading classic fiction and philosophy, watching and playing soccer, biking and hiking with her daughter.
