Yummie joined the MSGH team in 2010 as the MSGH Music Director for the Primary classes. Her role is designed to deepen the musical experience of the primary children and bring structure to our overall music program, which is designed to nurture Voice as One’s Instrument.
Yummie has been a long-time, dedicated volunteer in the MSGH community for years wearing many hats and contributing to nearly every area of our school. Most recently, she served as president of the MSGH Family Association for the 2010-2011 school year, and for the upcoming 2011-12 school year, will be joined by Rebecca London; together they will lead as Co-Chairs. Yummie will continue in her role as the representative for the Family Association on the Board of Directors.
As a professional musician and music educator, Yummie brings to the children not only her signature passion and energy, but years of professional musical and theatre experience. Though she tries to keep a low profile around MSGH, it might be fun to know that she is a performance artist and classical pianist who has been showcased worldwide. Her background includes extensive performance and teaching experience in dancing, singing and acting, as well as lighting, set design, playwriting and musical composition.
She holds a BA in Music from Brandeis University, a M. Ed. in Special Education from Columbia University, and a Master’s degree in Sacred Music from JTS.
In her free time, she enjoys volunteering for a variety of organizations supporting family health and wellness, is an active educator and activist in the Autism community, and continues her involvement in and support of many components of the arts in our region. Both of her children attend MSGH.
