Catherine Carrabba
Toddler One Teacher
"I have always wanted to work with young children. I love being around them and spending meaningful time with them. Since I have been a teacher in the toddler community, however, I have also really enjoyed my role working alongside parents to help them further their understanding of both Montessori and their child's development."

Catherine joined the MSGH community as an intern in the Upper Elementary classroom during her senior year in college, and as she remembers, “was hooked on the magic of MSGH.” She joined the team officially in 2004, supporting both the Upper and Lower Elementary levels, and enjoyed interacting with students of all ages through outside activities such as ski club, and through private instruction in swimming. In 2005, Catherine began our first-ever Toddler classroom and has been joined over the years by Toko and Teresa to create a thriving community of three toddler classrooms. Catherine has also just facilitated MSGH’s first-ever All Day Toddler community, nurturing the needs of children who are with us until 5:30pm.

Prior to her time with us, Catherine worked extensively with children in a wide-range of capacities. She directed children’s fitness programs and supported the childcare services as Heathtrax Wellness Center, was a private nanny for three young children for many years, and worked in the children’s department of the Lucy Robbins Wells Library.

Catherine holds her M. Ed from Loyola College in Maryland, where she studied with an emphasis on Montessori education, and a BA with a concentration in Child Studies from Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, CT. She earned her AMI teaching certification from The Montessori Institute in Denver, Colorado.

Catherine is active in the local community and serves on the Friend’s board of the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. She has also started a youth field hockey league in West Hartford and has coached at Hall High School.

Newly married and from a family of four, in her spare time, Catherine enjoys being with her large extended family. She also enjoys enjoys relaxing with friends over dinner and concerts, reading, walking, running, and taking trips to the beach.
